anyway I suspect that Starbucks at famous landmark buildings pushing that pics taking restriction.
in April I met guys from Japan during RSA conf at Starbacks on top of Moscone North. they wanted to take a groupshot but while adjusting focus a store clerk guy came and said we cannot take pics inside, but no clear explanation of the reason. and I didn't find any signs claiming it.
if you encounter to such at stores around financial and federal building area that might prove this hypothesis.

He was showing me some pics of his recent trip to Asia that were stored on his digital camera. The worker came screaming from out behind the counter and very loudly threw us out of the place in front of everyone. I would like to go back there and take some pics in retaliation, but my guess is that they would have me arrested for "trespassing" given their reaction to having a camera in the place last time.
