What's the Best iMovie Quicktime Output Config for browser-based video?

I know many of you have asked me in the past (no, not recently, probably because you've given up on me) to please improve the iMovie output quicktime settings so they'd be better than the "email" default compression/resizing settings.

Well now I'm working on productions for other people, and I hate to be a dork and choose something hastily for someone else's use. Can't bring myself do it actually. So I'm hoping that some of you can bring me up to speed quickly over the next few days so I can make some sensible decisions.

I will post what I learn here.

wow now I really gotta goto bed :-)

thankzzzzzz

Send Letters and Phonecalls To Your Reps on Tuesday - FCC At It Again - Trying to Take Away PEG (Public, Education, Government) Services

The FCC is in the process of rewriting cable law. Unfortunately, what's being "rewritten" is the writing off of PEG channels. PEG = Public, Education and Government Access Channels

As always, this comes to me at the last minute and there's nothing we can do directly besides hassle our Congresspeople to hassle the FCC to leave PEGs alone:

Take 30 seconds right nowto use this form to write them
.

Then get the phone numbers it gives you and phone them all and tell them to tell the FCC to "save the Public, Education and Government Channels."

I sent my letters. Now I'll call in the AM.

Now...what is all this really about? Well I hopped over to the FCC website to see what I could see, and it would appear, yes, ladies and gentlemen, we have another Regulatory "Review of the Commission's Broadcast Ownership Rules and Other Rules Adopted Pursuant to Section 202 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996."
word doc    PDF

There's a public meeting on Wednesday, December 20th where I guess the damage can
be done:

I'm still reading through these docs now, trying to figure them out. This FCC stuff is such a drag...

Thanks for sending emails and making phonecalls Tuesday!

New Movie Out On 2003 Dixie Chicks Controversy

I'm sure many of you remember the Great Dixie Chicks Blacklisting Controversy of 2003, when Natalie Maines said she was ashamed the president was from Texas, and then Clear Channel made a top down decision to ban her band from the airwaves.

Well Christoher Fleeger sent me a DVD of his new movie, Protesting the Dixie Chicks and I thought it was great!

There's a trailer available on the official website.

Another clip is up on YouTube, and Christopher promised that he would upload another clip about the FCC Radio Consolidation issues soon too.

Great week of Daily Shows from last week

Last week was a great week of Daily Shows and Colbert Reports last week.

So far I just have the Daily Shows up here (in both Quicktime and MP3s).

There were some really relevant and incredible shows last week and I want to make sure you see all the highlights.

So I'll be putting them up one at a time starting now, too.

Here's the playlist I've started for them: December Daily Show Clips.

Not Working For Dabble Anymore

The details don't matter.

It's all good, and I wish Dabble nothing but success :-)

The important thing is to use lisa@lisarein.com from now on, for everything for me. Forever.

(And do drop me a line - this will be the first chance I've had to catch up with people in years!)

thanks!
